As a long-time safety advocate for motorists of all ages, CAA Saskatchewan is proud to host CarFit events in partnership with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists.
Virtual CarFit Clinics
We are pleased to offer CarFit as an online, self-assessment clinic for mature drivers who are new to the program or have attended an on-site CarFit event and would like a review. The Virtual CarFit events still offer very important driver safety and vehicle information.
The Virtual CarFit events, offered via the Zoom platform, are hosted by CAA, and introduces an occupational therapist who provides information on what drivers need to know about their personal safety and their vehicle, focusing on features such as the airbag, head restraint, seatbelt, mirror positioning, blind spots, and more. Participants use Zoom chat to interact with the occupational therapist and to ask questions. CAA Virtual CarFit events, are complimentary to CAA Members and non-members.
CarFit Program
The CarFit program recognizes that older drivers are often the safest drivers. They are more likely to wear their seatbelts, less likely to speed, plus less likely to drive impaired. However, as drivers mature, age-related changes in vision, flexibility, strength, and range of motion can make drivers less comfortable and reduce their control behind the wheel. CarFit provides education to assist mature drivers in understanding and applying the built-in safety features of their vehicle. Today’s vehicles have many features that offer enhanced restraints and protection, yet many mature drivers are unaware of those features or how to use them properly. CarFit helps to identify how the fit of your vehicle can affect your driving and how minor adjustments and adaptations can assist your changing needs.
